Basket Weaving – August 12th
Sunday, August 12th
from 11:30am – 2pm
Make a basket that can hold your favorite personal treasures! This workshop is an introduction to basketry using a traditional coil technique. Each weaver will learn to start a coil and shape it into their own unique vessel using a variety of fibers: twine, raffia, yarn, and threads. We’ll also cover stitching techniques, shaping around a form, and creating shapes. Students are encouraged to create their own designs or patterns while inspired by a selection of colors and textures. The possibilities are endless!
All materials are provided.
All materials are included, but students are welcome to bring their own fibers as well!
Small class size.
Max enrollment is limited to 10 students per session, so register while there’s still room!
About our teacher:
Rajni Kavula is the artist and maker behind Adroit’s beautiful Indigo-dyed clothing and accessories, which you might have seen here at the shop. She has a degree in fine arts, and started her handmade journey with crochet, then later hand dyeing, though she is always learning and experimenting with new techniques. She mostly works with natural fabrics like linen, rayon, silk, and cotton yarn, as sustainable living is so very important in times like these. Rajni also teaches our Fiber Jewelry and Indigo classes- learning new techniques has been such a wonderful experience for her, and she hopes to pass on that joy to her students!
